In this Blog we will explain the common causes of a loss of fuel pressure and ways to get around these and get back on the water.
The Rotax Seadoo intank fuel pump is a fantastic design similar to automotive system and controls its own fuel pressure within the tank so no return lines are required, the pump is lubricated and cooled by the surrounding fuel so the most common cause of pump motor failures are water ingress into the tank. At this point either the whole module assembly can be replaced or we can supply motor pump repair kits which are a cheaper but more labour intensive option.
Debris in the tank causing a drop in fuel pressure over a constant high fuel demand situation such as at WOT for long periods. This can be from bad fuel cans or supplies can be a cause this will normally show itself on the "tea bag" filter on the lowest part of the fuel pump module. These filters are available again in house and a clip on / off system is in place.
Power supply failure will stop the pump from running checking the fuse and then electrical fault finding is required at this point.
