A bit of background first is that in 2008 Seadoo released the first production water to air intercooler in its range, this boosted the old 215hp engine up to its new heights of 255hp on the RXT-x and RXP-x models. The intercoolers of this era were heavy, large core, vented and worked perfectly......
This is where it all ended when in 2011 the new lightweight inter cooler was released which had no vent and smaller core. These proved to become troublesome and in 2012/2013 the design was modified to have a vent installed which aided flushing of the core. We have been stranded with that design until in early 2016 a new intercooler was produced which had a sacrificial anode and wider openings however required the intake and outlet hoses to be changed.
As you see on the picture attached 276000415 is what i see as being the final intercooler design for the 255/260hp engines. It has a sacrificial anode, vent and a decent sized core which will improve air cooling and thus HP. It does not require the intake or outlet pipes to be changed and is a direct fit (please check your particular model)
If you need advice or suspect your intercooler failed please get in touch which can be found on our contact us page.. We can pressure test your old intercooler if you send it to us by post.
Symptoms are LACK OF POWER, MISS FIRE OR NOT OBTAINING TOP SPEED.
IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY OF THE ABOVE STOP RIDING AND SEEK ADVICE.
While changing your intercooler check your oil filter has not crushed in on itself this can cause engine failures if not checked.
